Berhampur: Police have announced to attach properties of an accused in a case in Berhampur city of Odisha’s Ganjam district if he fails to appear before court within a month.
Speaking to media persons on Sunday, Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M said the announcement was made under Section 82 CrPC against Susanta Satpathy of Gauda Sahi Lanjipalli in a case registered at BN Pur police station.
The proclamation was done as per the court’s order by the police officials including SDPO Town Rajib L Panda, IIC of BN Pur police station Ram Kumar Murmu, OIC of Lanjipalli outpost Giri G Jena and other officers in presence of Executive Magistrate.
The accused has failed to attend the court proceedings. If Susanta fails to appear in the court within one month, all his properties would be seized, said the SP.
Earlier, Berhampur police had initiated the procedure for attachment of movable properties of Sankar Behera of Nehru Nagar in May. Sankar was wanted in murder of Ganesh Sahu near the Maa Kali Temple near Berhampur railway station 19 years ago.
Sankar was arrested after he came to his house soon after attachment procedure of his properties was undertaken by the police on May 19.
