Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested two ‘dalals’ (brokers) from West Bengal for cheating the patients at AIIMS in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, the two brokers, staying in a rented house near Khandagiri, were targeting the innocent persons coming to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). On the plea of facilitating easy consultation and admission in the hospital, they used to take Rs 2000 to 5000 from a patient and later escape from the campus.
As part of the Odisha government’s drive against the brokers in different facilities, the police personnel in plain clothes were keeping an eye on the two dalals for some time. On Friday, the police arrested the duo when the latter were trying to cheat the relatives of a patient in the AIIMS campus.
The arrested brokers have confessed to their illegal activities to the police during questioning. The police have registered a case and started investigation. The police have also appealed to the people not to entertain such brokers and inform about them.
