Cuttack: Police arrested three brokers from the premises of SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack on Sunday.

Speaking to media persons, additional DCP Anil Mishra said the three brokers were arrested during the drive of the Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to make SCB Hospital free of brokers.

On a tip-off about the brokers, some police personnel in the guise of poor patients from remote areas of the state went to the Trauma Care department of the hospital. At the time, the three brokers waiting there approached them.

The brokers tried to persuade the police personnel in disguise to go to a private hospital. Assuring them of better treatment, they brokered a deal for a particular amount.

After confirming that the persons were brokers, the police arrested them. The arrested brokers were identified as Seikh Raufur Ahmed, Himansu Sekhar Panda and Saroj Bhoi. After registering a case against the brokers, the police forwarded them to court.

Stating that the drive against the brokers would continue in future, the DCP said earlier 5 brokers were arrested from the SCB Hospital.
