Ganjam: Five persons including a groom who was part of a marriage procession inside Hotel Mayfair at Gopalpur of Ganjam district were arrested for violation of COVID-19 guidelines on Saturday.
Moreover, two vehicles used in the marriage procession have been seized.
A case under section 188/269/270 of IPC R/W Sec 3 of Epidemic Diseases Act and 34 of IPC has been registered at Gopalpur Police Station for gross violation of COVID-19 guidelines.
The administration had earlier sealed Hotel Mayfair in Gopalpur for 7 days for violation of social distancing norm for the marriage and slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on both the parties. The car used by the groom was also impounded.
