Baripada: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Saturday apprehended an assistant sub-inspector posted at Odisha’s Baripada town police station, Rama Chandra Soren, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000.
According to State Vigilance, Soren had demanded the illegal gratification from the complainant to help him in a case registered at the Town police station. The entire bribe money was recovered from him and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are on at two locations linked to the ASI to ascertain whether he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. A case under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, has also been registered against him.
