Jajpur: Police have busted a duplicate physically handicapped certificate racket and arrested 3 persons in this connection in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
Speaking to media persons about the racket on Saturday, Jajpur SDPO Saroj Upadhyay said Dr Anup Kumar Sharma, member of District Handicapped Board and orthopaedic specialist in district headquarters hospital (DHH) had filed complaint about a fake handicapped certificate at Jajpur police station on August 3. The police had registered a case on the basis of the complaint and launched an investigation.
During investigation, the police could know involvement of three persons in the racket and conducted their houses and other places used by them. Some duplicate handicapped certificates, stamps and other incriminating materials were seized during the raid, said Upadhyay.
The racketeers, who were preparing the fake certificates in their house, were identified as Kaminikant Panda and Prasant Samal of Sadudia village under Balichandrapur police station and Chandrakant Panda of Fakirmian Patna. They were arrested and forwarded to court on Saturday, said the SDPO.
He further said the three persons were selling the fake certificates at a high cost. The people were purchasing those to avail various benefits meant for the handicapped persons including government allowance. More details would be known after further investigation, he added.
