Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police intensified raids at different hotels across Bhubaneswar to check to check the veracity of information shared on SARAI app.

Checking has been stepped up at hotels located under the jurisdiction of different police stations as part of the ‘Safe City Drive’ undertaken by the Comimssionerate Police, police said on Tuesday.

Hotels have been asked to upload information regarding guests staying there on SARAI App lcunched by the police as part of efforts to prevent criminals from hiding. Hotels are required to update the information about their guests every day.

The raids were conducted on Monday to crosscheck whether correct information is being provided on the App and if all were adhering to the guidelines under SARAI.

All the hotels have been asked to download SARAI App and furnish detailed information regarding guests. This will act as a data base and provide information about criminal antecedents of people staying in different hotels.

During the verification, which has been intensified, police will take strict action against hotels that did not provide information through SARAI App.

Checking has also been intensified at hotels which are yet to get registered in SARAI App.

It is may be noted here that Commissionerate Police launched the application two years ago. The App had been made mandatory for the hotels and lodges of Bhubaneswar where all details including guests’ information can be updated on a daily basis.

The data is centrally stored and monitored with less physical intervention of police. This was started with an aim to provide a safe and secure and safe atmosphere in Bhubaneswar.
