Jajpur: A police constable alleged stormed the house of a female nurse late in the night and physically assaulted her in Dasrathpur area of Odisha’s Jajpur district.
According to sources, the incident took place at Mangalpur under Dasrathpur block of the district. It was alleged that Jitendra Biswal, a constable at Rambag outpost in Dasrathpur, barged into the rented house of the nurse and proposed to her.
As the nurse reportedly turned down his proposal, the constable allegedly turned furious and physically assaulted the woman inside the house.
Locals said the constable, who hails from nearby Gadaria village, had been after the nurse for the last one year. He had allegedly tortured her physically and mentally as she refused to accept his proposal.
Initiating action after the incident, the constable has been detained at Mangalpur police station and investigation is underway.
