Police Crackdown Ahead Of Durga Puja: Bars Found Flouting Rules In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Ahead of Durga Puja festival, Commissionerate Police has intensified checking different bars, night clubs, pubs and dance bars in Bhubaneswar.

During raids conducted at bars and night clubs in areas including Chandrasekharpur, Patia, Mancheswar and Infocity late on Saturday night, police teams found rampant violation of rules. It was found that several bars in the capital city were operating beyond the stipulated timings.

Police said most of the bars in Patia and Chandrasekharpur areas were found operating till 2:30 a.m.

Notably, almost all night clubs, pubs, dance bars have obtained ‘late closing permission’ up to 1.30 am. However, customers were found at several such places till 2.30 am.

The special drive will be further stepped up in view of the approaching festival in order to maintain law and order and prevent untoward incidents in the state capital.

Action will be taken against the owners of the bars and nightclubs which were found violating the guidelines, the sources added.
