Cuttack: Nine days after a firing incident in Subhadrapur under Cuttack Sadar Police Station, police has found the link of the dreaded Dhalasamant brothers following the arrest of a youth on Saturday.
The arrested has been identified as Miku alias Mrutyunjay Nayak (27), son of Krushna Chandra Nayak of IRC Village (Plot-N/3/164) under Nayapalli police station limits in Bhubaneswar.
Police seized two 9 mm pistols (one made in USA and the other made in China) and 29 rounds of live 9 mm ammunition.
The DCP said Miku, who has four cases pending in Nayapalli Police Station, was arrested and lodged at Jharpada jail on a murder case. While in Jharpada jail, he came in contact with Susant Dhalasamanta who assured him to help for his release on bail with a condition to eliminate Bijay Pal.
After his release from Jharpada jail on February 20, Miku went to the house of Bijay Pal at Subhadrapur with his associate Sada Nayak in a bike at about 9 PM on February 23 and called him for discussion regarding sand quarry business. As Bijay came near his grille gate of his house, Miku brought out a pistol from his waist. Sensing danger to his life, Bijay suddenly turned towards the corner of the house and saved his life as the bullet hit the cupboard of his house. Soon after the incident, Miku fled the area with Sada in the bike.
In course of investigation, police found the involvement of Miku in the firing case and arrested him near Barabati Stadium in the evening on March 3. Police later seized two 9 mm pistols (one made in USA and the other made in China) and 29 rounds of live 9 mm ammunition from a pit in the front courtyard of his house at IRC village.
The DCP said the police will bring Susant Dhalasamant on remand very soon for further interrogation on the incident. “We have decided to apply the court tentatively on Tuesday to take Susant on a 5-7 day remand,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sada Nayak, who had accompanied Miku to Subhadrapur to eliminate Bijay Pal, was injured during an encounter with the police Srikuruan River Bridge near Cuttack in the afternoon on Sunday.
Police seized a 9mm pistol, four bullets, a cell phone and one motorcycle from his possession.
Nayak was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital after he sustained bullet injuries on his left leg.
