Puri: Police on Monday foiled an alleged attempt of a gang to loot and arrest them in Odisha’s Puri town on Monday.
On getting information that the 4-member gang of thieves was plotting to commit the crime, a team from Kumbharpada police station conducted a raid at Narendrakona at around 3 am. The police nabbed all the 4 members and seized a number of weapons from their possession.
They were identified as Anil Nayak of Railway Colony in Puri, Sankar Das of Bali Upara, Naveen Sahu of Penthakata and Somnath Swain of Ramchandi. The police seized a sword, two hand-made bombs and an auto-rickshaw. They revealed to the police during questioning that they were planning to loot on Diwali night in the town.
