Bhubaneswar: A police inspector from Odisha, Biswa Prakash Rout, has been deputed to the CBI headquarters in Delhi to be part of the team probing the Manipur violence.
Rout is currently posted in Mayurbhanj district.
The CBI had mobilised 53 officers, including 29 women officers, to probe cases related to the Manipur violence and also asked some states, including Odisha, to depute police officers to be part of the investigation. Last month, the central agency took over the investigation in 27 FIRs lodged in connection with ethnic clashes that claimed more than 160 lives in nearly four months. It has already registered eight cases, including two instances related to the alleged sexual assault of women in Manipur.
“We have relieved Rout to join the CBI immediately. After completion of his assignment, he will be repatriated to Odisha Police,” DGP Sunil Kumar Bansal told TOI.
The report further stated that Rout had applied for deputation in the CBI a few months back.
