Bhubaneswar: Two days after a complaint was filed about viral drone footage of Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri, the police have decided to launch a massive awareness campaign about no fly zone above the 12th century shrine.
Puri Police on Wednesday posted a message on X (formerly Twitter) about the restrictions on flying objects in the air space above Jagannath temple.
“Ensuring serenity and safety at Shree Jagannath Temple. No Flying Zone to preserve the sanctity of the sacred site. Let the divine aura prevail without disturbance,” Puri Police said in the post.
It may be noted that the aerial view of Jagannath temple captured in a drone camera was posted in social media. It showed a youth operating the drone to capture the aerial view of the shrine.
While the video was liked by many and elicited views on the youth’s social media handle, it also raised concern over safety and security of the temple. A complaint was also filed at Singhadwar police station in this regard in the Pilgrim Town.
Following the outcry, Puri Police decided to launch an awareness campaign that flying any object above the temple is prohibited. The campaign will speak on the details regarding the no-fly zone and punishment for its viuolation.
