Bhubaneswar: The vigilance sleuths conducted raids on the properties of a sub-inspector posted (SI) posted at Tomando police station in Odisha capital early on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday morning on charges of possession of disproportionate assets.

According to sources, the vigilance team led by three Deputy Superintendent of police (DSP), 11 Inspectors, six Assistant Sub-Inspector(ASI) (ASIs), and other staff conducted simultaneous raids at three places associated with SI Abhimanyu Chaudhury.

Sources further added that a heavy bag was allegedly thrown into a drain beside Chaudhury’s house near delta square around 3.30 am. The officials of the anti-corruption department contacted his neighbour to cooperate with the investigation and checked the open drainage passage suspecting cash inside the bag.

During the raid the following assets were unearthed in the name of Choudhury and his family members:

1) A four-storey building at Unit-8, Paikanagar, Bhubaneswar with about 10,000 sqft built-up area. The valuation appears to be about Rs 1.5 crore. However, the technical team of Odisha Vigilance is carrying out measurements to assess the value.

2) A single-storey building at Nachhipur in Nayagarh

3) Eight plots including seven plots in prime areas around Bhubaneswar and a plot in Nichhipur in Nayagarh. The measurements and valuation/assessment of the plots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.

4) Bank deposits of approximately Rs.78.80 lakhs.

5) Cash over Rs.1.75 Lakh.

6) Three 2-wheelers.
