Rayagada: The police on Tuesday retrieved the skeleton of a youth who was a victim of honour killing in the district three months back.
According to police, the youth, identified as Manoranjan Baliarsingh from Kotgad of Kandhamal district, was in love with the sister of murder accused Nakul Dandsena. Even after Dandsena family strongly objected to their relationship, Manoranjan used to come to the village to meet the girl.
Peeved over their relationship, Nakul along with two others hatched a conspiracy to murder Manoranjan. As per their plan, the trio persuaded Manoranjan to accompany them to Andhalia jungle.
They first shot him dead with a hunter gun and then cut his body with a sharp weapon. Later, they buried the body parts inside a cave in the forest.
When Manoranjan did not return home for several days, his elder brother Niranjan Baliarsingh lodged a missing complaint with the Bissamcuttack police. Following investigation, the police arrested Nakul and his accomplices Raghunath Bhatta of Panakabadi village under Gudari police limits, Nakul Dandsena of Sindhipanga village under Bissamcuttack police station and Ganeshwar Sahu of Hanumantpur village under Chandrapur police station.
Following their confession, a scientific team led by SP Dr. Sarban Vivek M and other police staff went to the spot where Manoranjan’s body parts were buried in Andhalima forest under Chandrapur police station in the district. All the three arrested have been forwarded to court.
