Bhubaneswar: In a special drive to check public nuisance by miscreants and drunkards during Diwali celebrations, the Commissionerate Police has deployed teams to undertake patrolling in plain clothes in Bhubaneswar.
The team members, dressed in civil clothes instead of police uniform, will undertake patrolling in different localities of the state capital and nab people who create nuisance on the streets under the influence of alcohol, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh said.
Anyone found creating a public disturbance in an inebriated state would be detained by the police. Stern action will be taken against such elements, he said.
As part of the special drive, police officers in plain clothes along with PCR vans will be patrolling the streets. Checking and blocking will be done at different places of the city at night.
A special team, led by Additional DCP, has been formed to ensure trouble-free Diwali celebrations in the capital city.
Keeping in mind the various incidents that could happen during Diwali celebrations, the police has informed the firemen and hospital staff to react immediately in case of an accident.
