Kyiv: The Prime Ministers of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia are heading to Kyiv, which is now an active war zone, on Tuesday to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal.

The leaders will travel to Kyiv by train, the first foreign leaders to visit the Ukrainian capital after Russia invaded the country.

Zelenskyy’s office confirmed the visit.

The leaders will visit Kyiv to show support for Ukraine and its leaders.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński and Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša will meet Zelensky and Shmyhal as representatives of the European Union (EU), supporting “the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine”.

“The aim of the visit is also to present a broad package of support for Ukraine and Ukrainians,” Poland said.

Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia are part of NATO.
