Baripada: Popular Odia cine lyricist Nimai Charan Mohanty, who had been ailing for the last few years, breathed his last at his Puruna Hatsahi residence here on Friday afternoon. He was 69.
An approved lyricist of All India Radio, Cuttack, and Doordarshan, he had penned songs for many eminent singers and composers like Akshay Mohanty, Radhakrushna Bhanja, Shantanu Mohapatra, Raghunath Panigrahi and Bappi Lahiri.
He was also a senior practising lawyer at the District Court here.
Mohanty was conferred with the Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademy award for the year 2010-11.
