Bhubaneswar: Amid frequent power outages across Odisha, Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena on Monday held a review meeting to take stock of the situation and find a mechanism to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to the people who are reeling under scorching heat.
The meeting convened by the Chief Secretary at Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar was attended by top officials of the power distribution companies and Energy department.
The focus at the meeting, chaired by Jena, was on finding a solution to unannounced power outages being encountered throughout the state at a time when people are sizzling under grueling heat coupled with unbearable humidity.
Sources said the Chief Secretary directed the power distribution companies to promptly address electricity supply problems. The distribution companies were asked take immediate steps whenever power disruption is reported and to carry out restoration swiftly particularly after nor’wester.
While emphasis was laid on taking preventive measures against power outages, the Chief Secretary stressed the need for proper coordination between the Energy department and power distribution companies.
Uninterrupted power supply should be ensured through proper link with sub-stations and stations where the control room has to play a significant role.
The power distribution companies were asked to take immediate steps when they receive complaint from consumers on phone. They were also asked to respond immediately on complaints posted in social media.
