Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Tuesday hiked the stipend of pre and
para-clinical students of the medical colleges in Odisha.
According to government’s announcement, the stipend has been enhanced
to Rs 48,302 from Rs 39,950 for first year students. Similarly, the
second year and third year students will now get a stipend of Rs 50,658
and Rs 53,014 respectively.
“It has also been decided to extend an additional stipend of Rs 18,000
per month for students pursuing pre and para-clinical courses.
Both in-service and post graduate doctors working in different
state-run medical colleges will be entitled to receive the stipend
which has been introduced first time in Odisha”, informed Health
Minister Pratap Jena.
The move aims to attract students to undertake pre and para-clinical
courses in the state, Jena added.
On January 1, the state government had announced a hike in stipend of
house surgeons from Rs.15,000 to Rs.20,000.
