Bhubaneswar: Prepaid and pink autorickshaw services will soon be back in Odisha’s capital.
The modalities for resuming the pink autorickshaw service — launched in 2014 to make travel by women passengers safer — are being worked out, the Police Commissionerate said.
This time, the police will play a lesser role in the running of the pink autorickshaw service and drivers are likely to be allowed to ferry male passengers as well to boost their income. The modalities on how it can be done are being worked out. The drivers will be registered and the police plan to introduce an app, where passengers can give their feedback on the drivers and overall experience.
Steps to resume prepaid autorickshaw service at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here and the Bhubaneswar railway station have already been initiated. Passengers often complain that autorickshaw drivers outside the airport and railway station charge exorbitantly and fleece them.
