Sundargarh: The driver and passengers of a car had a narrow escape as the vehicle caught fire after falling into a ditch in the district on Saturday.
According to sources, the incident took place near Barapali under Rajgangpur police limits. While the driver the red colour car was trying to take a U-turn, he lost control over the steering and drove into a roadside ditch.
While the car’s bonnet opened on its own on the impact, smoke started coming out of its engine. Fortunately, the driver of the private car and the passengers came out of the vehicle safely. Soon, the car caught fire.
On being informed, the Fire personnel from Rajgangpur rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. But by that time, almost half of the car had already been burnt.
The driver of the car, identified as Muna Singh, sustained minor injury in the incident.
