Odisha Vigilance Unearths 3 Buildings, 5 Plots During Raids On PR&DW Private Secy Who Rented Out Govt Quarter

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday unearthed three buildings, five high-value plots and other assets during simultaneous raids at eight places linked to Ramesh Chandra Jena, Senior Private Secretary of Panchayat Raj and Drinking Water (PR & DW) Department, on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

It was also found that Jena, being a government employee, flouted rules and rented out his government quarter behind Market Building in Bhubaneswar since June, 2021 and was receiving Rs 12,000 per month through UPI transaction from the tenants, Vigilance said in a statement.

During searches being conducted at eight places, Vigilance officials unearthed three buildings, including two multi-storey buildings in Bhubaneswar, five high-value plots, one four-wheeler so far.

Searches are being conducted by the anti-corruption agency led by 8 DSPs, 3 Inspectors, 10 ASIs, and other supporting staff on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.

During house searches so far, the following assets have been unearthed in the name of Sri Jena and his family members;

1. One triple storey building with area 4500 Sqft. over plot No.1979/3971, Mouza-Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar.

2. One double storey building with area 2100 Sqft. over plot No.K-4, Kalinga Nagar, Bhubaneswar.

3. One building at Nirakarpur, Khurda.

4. 5 high value plots including 4 in upscale areas of Bhubaneswar & 1 in Kanasa, Puri. Details as under;

i) A piece of land vide plot No.1088, Khata No.K-4 with area 1200Sqftf. at Kalinga Nagar, Bhubaneswar.

ii) A piece of land vide plot No.1979/3971, Khata No.683/674 with area 0.046 dcml at Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar.

iii) A piece of land vide plot No.1979, Khata No.231 with area 0.005.75 dcml at Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar.

iv) A piece of land vide plot No.52, Khata No.95/24 with area 0.029.5 dcml at Bhubaneswar.

v) A piece of land vide plot No.7, Khata No.382 with area 0.25 dcml, Mauja-Adala at Kanasa, Puri.

The measurement and valuation/assessment of the above buildings/plots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.

5. Bank, Insurance and other deposits and investments are being ascertained.

7. 1 four wheeler (Honda Amaze) & 3 two wheelers.
