Priyanka Chopra Spreads Cheer At Rohingya Refugee Camps In Bangladesh

Bangladesh: Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra recently visited one of world’s largest refugee camps, Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh, where she was seen playing with the children, encouraging them and spreading some beautiful smiles.

In 2017, horrific instances of ethnic cleansing were seen in Rakhine State of Myanmar (Burma). Around 700,000 Rohingya Muslims took refuge in camps set up by the UNICEF here after having fled the country.

Priyanka Chopra posted on Instagram about all her activities at the site and the children living in the refugee camps.

She wrote: “Many months later they are still highly vulnerable, living in overcrowded camps with no idea when or where they will ever belong…even worse, when they will get their next meal. AND…as they finally start to settle and feel a sense of safety, monsoon season looms…threatening to destroy all that they’ve built so far. This is an entire generation of children that have no future in sight. Through their smiles I could see the vacancy in their eyes.
These children are at the forefront of this humanitarian crisis, and they desperately need our help.
The world needs to care. We need to care.

She returned from the site this morning and is back home in Los Angeles. Her post about the same was very emotional. She wrote: “As I travel back from Cox’s Bazar to Los Angeles.. the only thing on my mind is how much privilege I have been blessed with. I thank each person who has contributed to making my life so blessed. I’m Grateful for all That I have and will always be on a quest to make life at least a little easier for as many as I can.I thank God for having the ability to do so.

I’m so moved by this @Unicef field trip to the #rohingyarefugeecamp in Bangladesh. To witness the incredible strength it takes just to survive.

The fight for survival is so primal.. and I’m humbled to have witnessed it.”
