Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday appointed eminent academician Prof Banshidhar Majhi as the new vice-chancellor of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla for a period of three years.
Majhi’s appointment was approved by Odisha Governor and Chancellor of Universities Prof Ganeshi Lal.
A native of Sambalpur, Majhi has been serving as the director of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IITDM), Kancheepuram since July 2017.
Earlier, he served in various administrative capacities including as the Head of the Department, Dean (Academic) and Chairman of the Automation Cell.
Besides, he has served as the member of various accreditation committees such as the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
Majhi has guided 17 PhD scholars and eight Master of Science (research) students and more than 150 MTech theses.
He has also published 80 research papers in several peer reviewed journals and presented more than 150 papers in reputed conferences.
He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Fellow IETE (Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers), Fellow IE (Institution of Engineers ) India and life member of Computer Society of India.
Majhi was conferred with the Samanta Chandra Sekhar award by the Odisha government in 2016.
