Bhubaneswar: Distinguished educationist Brajakishore Swain of Odisha was conferred the prestigious Mahamohapadhyaya PV Kane gold medal for his outstanding contribution to studies in dharma sashtras and spread of Sanskrit literature.
A former professor of Dharmasastra in the Sri Jagannath Sanskrit University at Puri, Swain received the award at the 219th foundation day of the Asiatic Society, Mumbai, sources said. The coveted award is presented every three years.
Prof Swain, a former head of the department of the Sri Jagannath Sanskrit University at Puri, has more than 30 publications to his credit.
Academicians and researchers from across the state and outside have congratulated Prof Swain for winning the sward. Prof Swain reportedly dedicated the award to his teachers and students as a token of respect and love.
