Balangir: The district administration imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC at Bangomunda in Odisha’s Balangir as tension escalated following a road blockade on Wednesday.
Speaking to media persons, deputy collector of Titlagarh said the prohibitory order in Bangomunda has been imposed from 10 am on Tuesday and will remain in force till midnight of October 26.
The police have also conducted a flag march in Bangomunda to maintain law and order. Adequate police force has been deployed in the village to prevent any untoward incident. IICs and SDPOs of four police stations are taking stock of the situation and trying to pacify the agitating villagers, he said.
Earlier in the day, the villagers staged a road blockade in protest against police inaction on their complaint against some people for attacking them. Five persons were injured in a group clash during the ‘Chhatar Jatra’ two days ago.
On Tuesday, hundreds of supporters of those injured gheraoed Bangomunda police station, demanding immediate arrest of the attackers. Two groups of villagers also came to blows last evening.
