Puri: Police have confiscated properties estimated to be worth more than Rs 3 crore of a ganja smuggler in Odisha’s Puri district.
As per reports, the police and STF had arrested Bijay Pani and his son Satrujit alias Pintu on charges of ganja smuggling on May 3. They had seized more than 624 kg of ganja worth around Rs 60 lakh and 4 hand-made bombs from their house. Following the arrest, the police had investigated their financial transactions and properties.
After coming to know that the father and son duo had accumulated vast illegally earned properties, a team of police officials led by Puri Sadar SDPO KC Mund conducted raids at various places. The raids were conducted by the team comprising 3 IICs, 6 SIs, 8 ASIs and a platoon of police force under the supervision of Additional SP Mihir Panda.
During the raids, the ganja smugglers were found to have several plots and houses at different places. As many as 9 plots in Puri town, 4 buildings in different places, two costly cars and a motorcycle were detected in their names.
Speaking to media persons on Sunday, Puri SP K Vishal Singh said on getting permission from Kolkata-based SAFEMA, the police have seized the properties.
