Bhubaneswar: Woman IPS officer NB Bharathi, who has not reported to duty since 2017, has been issued a notice by the office of additional director general of Odisha Crime Records Bureau to appear before it in connection with inquiry into her absence.

The public notice has asked 1998-batch IPS officer Bharathi to appear for official inquiry on October 29, failing which she will face departmental action. Bharathi was posted as inspector general with the Human Rights Protection Cell of the state police.

After she did not report to work since November 23, 2017, Home department initiated disciplinary proceedings against her. Later, the Home department asked the additional DG of Odisha Crime Records Bureau to inquire into the matter.

The public notice also stated that the ADG office had issued several letters to the IPS officer in her different addresses through registered post, speed post and email. But there was no response from her to any of the letters.

Stating that next date of inquiry has been scheduled on October 29, 2021 at 11 am at the office of the ADG of the Odisha Crime Records Bureau, the notice said if she failed to appear on the scheduled date, she will be deemed to have no objections and the order of the departmental action will be issued unilaterally.
