Pune: The grandfather of the 17-year-old boy whose Porsche killed two bike-borne IT professionals on May 19 was arrested by Pune Police on Saturday.
Produced in a local court, he was sent to police custody till May 28.
The grandfather was nabbed from his residence in the early hours of May 25 in a fresh case — third FIR in the Porsche crash — registered by Pune crime branch.
He has been accused of threatening the family driver and forcing him to give statements to police that he was driving the sports car when it fatally rammed into Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta’s two-wheeler.
During court hearing, police alleged that the grandfather abducted his driver and confined him at a banglow.
“There he pressurised the driver to take blame for the car accident. We have recovered some CCTV footage too. We demand that he be sent to seven days custody remand,” police claimed.
The lawyer of the accused said that the driver went to the bungalow on his own after the accident, fearing a threat to his life.
The teenager’s father was arrested earlier, while the boy has been sent to a child observation centre after his bail – granted by a juvenile court within 14 hours of the accident – was overturned.
