Bhopal: A 55-year-old man allegedly raped and killed his daughter for falling in love and marrying a man of a different caste in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratibad.
The family of the accused said he had taken his daughter to the forest to perform the baby last rites of her baby who had died of an illness. However, before that could be done, the father and daughter got into an argument over her marriage, which took place a year ago. The man then allegedly raped his daughter and strangled her to death. The body of the woman and her eight-month-old son was found two days ago in Samasgad forest in the district.
He has confessed to his crime and has been arrested by the police under sections 302 and 376 of the Indian Penal Code, the report added.
On interrogation, the police found that the family of the deceased had been unhappy after she ran away and got married a year ago. When the family was questioned, the father, Sudesh Tiwari, confessed to the crime. He related how they were taunted by society over her love marriage. She did not come to her parents’ home after marriage due to this reason. However, this Diwali, she visited her elder sister’s home, where her baby died of an illness.
The elder sister called their father to inform him of what had happened, he said. He then reached Ratibad with his son, where the incident occurred nearly two weeks ago, the report added.
