Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has ordered the cancellation of the route permit of the bus in which a girl was raped in Puri.
In a letter, the transport commissioner has directed the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) to also cancel the driving license of the driver and the conductor with immediate effect.
Besides, a show cause notice has been served on the bus owner to reply within 15 days to explain why the route permit of the bus will not be permanently cancelled.
Briefing mediapersons earlier in the day, Puri SP, Uma Shankar Das had said that the police have forwarded the rape accused, the helper of the bus to the court.
Stating that the police would frame a charge sheet of this case in 4-5 days, Das said the victim’s family will be provided with an assistance of Rs 20,000 from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
He further said that if necessary, the state government will engage a special counsel to deal with the case.
