Berhampur: Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD), the students’ wing of BJD, has suspended Abhisekh Nayak, the prime accused in the ragging incident in a college in Odisha’s Berhampur city.
An official order issued by state president of BCJD Devi Ranjan Tripathy said Abhisek, the campus convener of Binayak Acharya Government College in Berhampur is suspended from Biju Chhatra Janata Dal for anti-party activities with immediate effect.
According to sources, Berhampur students’ wing president Sovan Nayak had recommended removal of Abhisek from the post following his arrest to the state president of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal. Sovan and other leaders have submitted a petition before college principal and Berhampur SP demanding stern action against him and other accused in the ragging incident.
It may be noted that police had arrested three students including Abhisek, a Plus III second-year student, following a probe into the alleged ragging video, which had gone viral. In the video, the accused were seen abusing a Plus II first-year girl student. While they snatched her bag and mobile phone, one of them was also seen kissing her hand in front of other students of the college.
