Rahu Ki Narahu…, Documentary On Prasanna Mishra, Screened
Bhubaneswar: A documentary film on literary works of eminent poet Dr Prasanna Kumar Mishra was screened on the occasion of ‘Phalguna Asara’, Mishra’s birth anniversary, at Buddha Mandir in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
The film features 12 renowned litterateurs: Gourahari Das, Rajkishore Mishra, Manorama Mohapatra, Ramesh Panigrahi, Govind Chand, Pratibha Satpathy, Malabika Ray, Asit Mohanty, Ashutosh Parida, Chaitanya Sethi, Amaresh Patnaik, Narayan Samanta and Kedar Mishra.
Appreciating the effort, Sambad editor Soumyaranjan Patnaik said: “The film is a good initiative to analyse Mishra’s work, which will always enrich Odia literature and also inspire the younger generation”.
On the occasion, the recently released visual narration of Mishra’s poem Pakaana Boma was also screened.
Eminent litterateurs Manorama Mohapatra Biswal, Asit Mohanty and Ashutosh Parida analysed Mishra’s poetry during the panel discussion, Kabitare Prasanna, moderated by Kedar Mishra.
“Be it children’s literature or sci-fi, he has covered the whole length. He had left his engineering studies mid-way to go over and study at Viswa Bharti in Shantiniketan. His poems are based on themes ranging from romanticism to Marxism,” said Prof Rajkishore Mishra.
Enamoured by literature at a very young age, Dr Mishra has etched his name in every genre of Odia literature: poetry, plays, novels, short stories, children’s literature, translation, research work on folklore.
He was conferred the Odisha Sahitya Akademi award, Sarala Award, Bishuba Award, Jhankara Puraskar and many more prestigious accolades.
Manikara Priya, Truck Dalare Sanatan, Janapatha and Kharare Bangara Loka, plays Janasebaka, Subarna Basuddha, Asha Kanana and novels Asura, Badhipanira Danta are a few of his well-known works. Among others, Malabika Ray, Devdas Chhotray, Pratibha Satpathy, Hrushikesh Mallick, and Ramesh Panigrahi were present on the occasion. Mishra’s daughter Prachitara, a well-known journalist-storyteller, proposed a vote of thanks after the event.
