Cuttack: A joint team of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Food Safety Department on Tuesday raided KFC Restaurant at Badambadi here over allegations of stale food being served at the outlet.
“The outlet paid no attention to the complaints of the customers about stale and sour bread and buns, following which they wrote to us,” City Health Officer Dr Satyabrata Mohapatra said.
The team found that the outlet was selling buns and bread which were past the shelf-life. There was also no mention of packaging and expiry date on the packets of crispy chicken.
“An international brand using expired bread and buns is not acceptable,” he added.
Food prepared by the restaurant and samples of seized buns and crispy chicken would be sent to a laboratory for test.
The Food Safety Department will also serve a notice on the outlet, sources said.
