Bhubaneswar: A team of officials of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) wing of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) raided a bakery manufacturing unit near Sriya Talkies on Tuesday.
During the raid, the team found no mention of the date of manufacturing, expiry and best before use on the packets of the products.
Talking to the media, an official of the FSSAI team said that they had received a complaint in this regard from an NGO on Monday.
“As the bakery unit has violated the Section 23 of the Food Safety Standards Act, 2006 and Section 2.2.2 of the FSS Packaging & Labelling) Regulations, 2011, we have slapped a fine of Rs 3000 on its owner. We have also asked him to abide by these rules. We will soon send a notice to him,” the official added.
