Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday carried out a special drive for checking of permission and COVID norms for marriages in the city.
As per Odia calendar the day’s lagna was pious for solemnising marriages and accordingly many weddings were also planned in the city.
The BMC’s COVID-19 enforcement squad got down to the job and carried out checking at different marriage mandaps.
In the North Zone, marriage mandaps/function halls at Patia, Chandrasekharpur and Sailashree Vihar were raided and a fine of Rs.55,000 was imposed.
Sources in the BMC said show cause notice will also be issued to five of the violators.
