Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm accompanied by rains is likely in coastal districts of Odisha and adjoining interior districts from Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) of SOA here, the incursion of moisture from both the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea into Odisha, which was supported by daytime heating, has created the possibility of such weather.
The interior districts likely to be affected included Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
Thunderstorm is also expected in the western Odisha districts from February 26 as the existing weather system would merge with western disturbance and rain is likely to continue till the first week of March, barring a couple of days between February 28 and March 1, the release added.
Notably, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted rain in several districts of Odisha between February 24 and 26.
It has also issued yellow warning of thunderstorm for one or two places in Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore between 8.30 am on February 25 and 8.30 am on February 26.
