Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued nowcast warning for three districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 4.30 pm on Thursday.
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm, lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely in some parts of Dhenkanal, Cuttack and Khurda during the next 3 hours. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The MeT office had earlier predicted light to moderate rain or thunderstorm, lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph in some parts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Rayagada and Kandhamal till 2.15 pm.
Meanwhile, the mercury shot up to 39.2 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur by 11.30 am, followed by Jharsuguda (38.4), Hirakud (37.4), Chandbali (35.6) and Keonjhar and Balasore at 35 degree Celsius each.
