Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday directed Malkangiri district administration to submit assessment report on the damages due to recent rains in a week.

The chief minister issued the direction at a review meeting after making an aerial survey of the areas affected by rainwater and flood in the district. He told the district collector to ensure that not a single person affected by the flood is deprived of government assistance.

Majhi stressed on disbursing financial help to the people whose kutcha houses have been damaged on priority basis. Similarly, restoration of electricity supply should be taken up on a war-footing, he said.

“As there is possibility of water-borne diseases spreading in the water-logged places, the administration should ensure adequate supply of drinking water to the people,” he added.

He further said there was no human casualty during perennial heavy rain due to adequate preparation by the district and police administration on the direction of the government. He appreciated the contributions of ODRAF and Fire services personnel in this regard.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, Malkangiri MLA Narsingh Madkami, chief secretary Manoj Ahuja and other senior officers were present at the meeting.
