Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for 11 districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 3.30 pm on Friday.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning is likely in some parts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal and Ganjam in 3 hours. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Notably, the IMD had forecast heavy rain at one or two places in Nuapada, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Boudh, Deogarh and Keonjhar on July 14. Remaining parts of the state are likely to experience light to moderate rain. The heavy rain warning continues till July 17.
The intensity of rain in Odisha is likely to increase from July 19 with the formation of a low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal.
