Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for seven districts of Odisha, including Bhubaneswar, till 8.15 pm on Friday.
Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm with lightning may occur in some parts of Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Sundargarh, Puri and Balsore districts during the next 3 hours.
Police have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The weather agency has also issued orange warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) and thunderstorm with lightning for Sambalpur, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts till 8.30 am on Saturday. Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) along with thunderstorm and lightning is also likely at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Bargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Sonepur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Balangir and Nuapada.
