Bhubaneswar: The intensity of rainfall is likely to decrease from Sunday (November 14) and the southern districts may experience more rain from November 17, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Department tweeted.
It has forecast no major change in minimum (night) temperature.
The Met Office had earlier said that the fresh low-pressure area, which formed over the south Andaman Sea and adjoining Thailand coast on Saturday, is likely to trigger more rainfall in South Odisha.
It is likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a depression over the north Andaman sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal by November 15.
There is a high probability of cyclogenesis over the Bay of Bengal around November 15, it said adding that the system is likely to intensify further and reach near the Andhra Pradesh coast around November 18.
“Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at several places in south coastal districts, and heavy rainfall is expected at one or two places in Gajapati and Ganjam districts on November 17,” said Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Scientist Umasankar Das.
According to SOA’s Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) here, rainfall may increase in Odisha from November 17 and continue up to November 20 with one or two places in south Odisha experiencing heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, night temperature had risen and would continue to do so till November 22, the bulletin said.
