Kota: As many as 13 people were sentenced to 20 years each in imprisonment and two others to four years each by a Kota court for repeatedly raping a 15-year-old girl for nine days early in 2021.
Heading a special court set up under the POCSO Act, Additional Sessions Judge Ashok Chaudhary, also awarded four years rigorous imprisonment to a woman for abducting the girl from her home here. After the kidnapping, the woman took her to Jhalawar and sold her to several people for raping her.
However, the court acquitted 12 others allegedly involved in the crime. Four offenders, who are underage, are still facing the trial separately at the local Juvenile Justice Board, reported news agency PTI.
ASJ Chaudhary also slapped a fine of ₹ 10,000 each on those jailed for 20 years and ₹ 7,000 on those awarded four years imprisonment while sentencing the convicts.
The judgment was delivered within nine months of the commission of the crime after its probe under the Rajasthan Police Department’s Officer Scheme.
