Berhampur: Rama Chandra Panda has resigned from the post of Advisor to Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment department and Member of Odisha State Agricultural Marketing (OSAM) Board.
Panda, who is an aspirant for Berhampur Lok Sabha seat, quit the post as the code of conduct came into effect with the announcement of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha on Saturday.
The former deputy speaker Odisha Assembly sent his resignation letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and returned the official vehicle.
“I am grateful to the chief minister for having reposed faith in me in giving the assignment of advisor to the Agriculture department. Several welfare schemes were implemented during my tenure to make farming more attractive and remunerative,” Panda said.
During his tenure, Panda had submitted 35 visiting notes as Adviser to the Agriculture and FE department. He had also resigned from the post of Member, Planning Board on March 16, 2019 prior to the general elections.
