Puri: Dipika Chikhlia Topiwala, who is best known for her role as Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan in 80s, praised the Srimandir Parikrama Prakalpa during her recent visit to Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s heritage city of Puri.
She was in the pilgrim town with her family on Sunday and had sought the help of Odisha government for smooth darshan of the sibling deities. “Had a very nice darshan of Lord Jagannath, Mata Lakshmi and Mata Bimala. It felt like God was actually in front of me. I pray that all those who come here be blessed,” she said in an interaction with the media.
She was accompanied by police and temple administration.
The actress-turned-politician, who was visiting Puri almost after three decades, was all praise for the Parikrama project. “It is beautiful. Our country is progressing,” she said.
It may be recalled that the actress had a brief stint with politics. She had won Baroda Lok Sabha in 1991 on BJP ticket. However, she did not pursue her political career following the birth of her daughter during her five-year tenure in Parliament. Speculation was ripe about her likely reentry when she was invited for the Ramleela consecration in Ayodhya and was seen with Prime Minister Modi as well.
