Mumbai: It’s a matter of hours before Koffee with Karan Season 7 starts streaming on OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar from Thursday.
Viewers have been waiting eagerly for the show to kick off after having seen trailers featuring top Bollywood stars.
Alia Bhatt, who is expecting her first child, will be there with Ranveer Singh in an early episode, but her husband Ranbir Kapoor has refused to be on the show.
What’s the reason for Ranbir’s decision?
Well, he is wary of saying something controversial that can land him in trouble.
Johar revealed that Ranbir has set a condition under which he could appear in the popular gossipy show.
“He’s a really close friend of mine. He said ‘If I say something, kuchh gadbad ho jaega (something will go wrong), so I’m not coming’. He teases me, ‘you pay me what you’re getting, then I’ll come’,” Johar told NDTV.
“I said ‘why should I pay you? I’m not paying you. I’m paying you enough for the movies you’re doing.’ And I respect that. Just because they are close friends, they shouldn’t come. They should come if they want to come,” Johar remarked.
Johar is a co-producer of Ranbir and Alia’s much-anticipated film ‘Brahmastra’, directed by Ayan Mukerji. The much-delayed film is scheduled to be released in theatres on September 9.
