Bargarh: A Rangoli Mahotsav was held in front of Odisha’s Bargarh Women’s College by hundreds of artists two days ahead of the famous Dhanu Yatra.
The Rangoli Mohatsav based on ‘Dhanu Yatra’ was organised on 560 feet X 20 feet stretch of road in front of the college where at least 361 artists from 36 institutions participated.
The artists took around five hours to draw rangolis on several episodes of Dhanu Yatra and Sambalpuri motifs. Each group of artists was given a space of 20×20 feet to draw and around 975 kg of colours were used during the event.
Similarly, the committee organised a drawing competition on the women’s college premises, and around 120 junior and senior artists participated in the contest.
The winners will be awarded on stage during the archery festival.
Later in the evening, two apps on Dhanu Yatra, developed by Imperial College, Bargarh, and Vikash Group of Institutions, were launched by Bargarh collector Monisha Banerjee.
Notably, started during 1947-48, Dhanu Yatra is considered the world’s largest open-air theatre which will be held from December 27 to January 6.
