Bhadrak: Some rare idols and gold ornaments worth crores of rupees have been unearthed by excavation from the house of a servitor of Akhandalamani temple at Aradi in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
According to sources, the servitor, Rabi Narayan Mishra, had told the temple’s priest Narottam Mishra about some unusual occurrences in his house located near the temple. On the advice of the priest, a particular place in the house was identified and dug up.
After digging upto 15 feet, the diggers came across a large brass pot buried there and brought it out. On checking the pot, they found idols of Lord Shiva, Devi Parvati, Lord Ganesh, Nandi bull and some others. Besides, some gold ornaments, believed to have been used for decorating the idols, were also found inside the pit. The value of the idols and ornaments were estimated to be around Rs 5 crore.
The priest said after the materials were found from the pit, the servitors tried to suppress the matter. But he relented later and disclosed the matter to the temple authorities.
