Nayagarh: The Forest Department has rescued a rare vulture at Gunduria village in Ranapur block in Nayagarh district.
Villagers had alerted the department after they found the ailing bird of prey near a poultry farm at on Friday. Later, forester Kaibalya Behera and Snake Helpline member Ajay Kumar Das went to the village and rescued the vulture.
Forest officials said they have made arrangements for treating the ailing bird.
Vultures have been absent from the village for the past three decades, Thus, Friday’s sighting triggered a wave of curiosity among locals.
